What's New for Colorado Retreat Co.?
When I launched The Colorado Retreat Co. in early 2022, I envisioned being the very first company that comes to mind for an event or wedding planner when they want the perfect partner for a unique, intimate small group event.
I also dreamt that the location of any Colorado Retreat Co. partner experience would be immersed in nature, have curated, thoughtful gathering spaces where great conversations and moments would take place, and it would accommodate overnight guests (so the experience would be more than just one day.)
W-O-W. Did I get what I envisioned - but way more - when I found our flagship location, the Steel Horse.
I’ve discovered so much more of what this destination can offer that it’s helped me redefine the types of experiences and event packages I’ve updated for 2023 and beyond.

Destination Weddings
While Dave and I didn’t have a wedding – we did a vow exchange on a Thursday morning in front of our family, then bought the bar tab of our friends at our then-favorite brewery that evening – I can say now that Steel Horse would have been my dream destination.
Because so much on this property had already been curated for a perfect mountain destination wedding, which includes amenities like overnight accommodations, an outdoor ceremony site with a view, a rustic barn for the reception, outdoor party spaces like the vintage railcar lounge or beer garden, and a flexible food and beverage policy – the Steel Horse is STILL the best Colorado destination for a mountain wedding.

From the first moment I stepped on the property at the Steel Horse I knew it had a purpose for bringing joy–but also healing–to everyone who visited.
I had recently lost my good friend Jill when I found the for sale listing. Over the weeks and months that followed through the process of purchasing, then moving into the residence on the property, it was staring at the mountains, listening to the creek, and feeling the breeze that helped me process my grief. Unsurprisingly, nature is a powerful healer; and nature is all around you when you’re here.
When you combine nature, plant medicines, and trained therapists… deep transformation is bound to happen. After learning about this powerful healing modality, I discovered that the Steel Horse is the ideal, private setting for small-group healing therapy retreats.
While there’s much for me to learn about the (re)emerging medicinal plant industry, I am moved to offer a destination of solace for others through intentional ways it’s helped me.
This season I’ll be looking to host trained facilitators to offer two or three-night therapeutic small group retreats for 12 people or less here in the serene Central Colorado Rocky Mountains.

Leadership Team / Peer Group Offsites
If your leadership team, board, or peer forum group (i.e. YPO, EO, or Vistage) is 10 people or less, do I have good news for you…
Steel Horse is PERFECT for a unique and memorable offsite that allows you all to disconnect, to reconnect.
I have curated a two-night offsite package (just enough time…) that includes cozy, private overnight accommodations, all the offsite supplies and equipment you need, planning and on-site production services, and endless, local coffee – so all you have to do is say yes and pick the date.
The boring boardroom offsite is out! It’s time to gather the group for a one-of-a-kind experience at the Steel Horse.
